Talk Talk Talk
Any preachers reading this post? Don't you just love the way some people just talk, talk, talk during your sermon. Maybe you don't have that problem. Maybe people respect you enough to at least act like they're interested to hear what the Lord has given you for the church. What they don't realize is that they are not disrespecting you..... They are disrespecting God. What has happened to people these days? If it's not clipping finger nails in church, it's balancing a checkbook. I guess I won't mention anything else. I know, it sounds like I'm trashing my people.... I'm not. Hey if it's true it's true. Just remember. It's not about you, it's about God.

That is very disrespectful. I pray God will help them see the error of their way.
I agree that random chit chat during the sermon is disrespectful along with clipping fingernails, balancing the checkbook, etc. However, what if some of that "talk talk talk" in the congregation is about confirming or clearing up a point the speaker/preacher has made? Usually in any sermon, speech, or presentation each point builds on or adds to the previous point. As a member of the congregation, I know that it is crucial to understand, if possible, each and every point that is made in order to follow the remaining portion of the sermon. I am not suggesting that all conversation during a service falls into this category, however, I'm sure that some of it does. As for the other distractions, once again I agree that it shows disrespect to God. In saying that, if the speaker concentrates on these distractions and places his attention on them while delivering the message, he too is showing disrespect. During the entire service, whether it be the song service, Sunday school, or the worship service all in attendance (congregation, preacher, teacher)should have their undivided attention on God.
Yeah, I can tell the diference in random chit chat and confermation. I personally wish there were more "amen", "preach it brother", "glory", "praise God", "that's right", "come on". I love a good verbal response. I woulden't mind if there were so much shouting praise it would blow the roof off. About the preacher being focused on the distraction.... sometimes it's hard to miss, if it is on purpose. Corey, I love your response...... I knew I would hit a nerve some day. by the by, I'm not takeing shots at our church..... this happens at every church.Maybe my next post will be more thought provoking. keep the opinions comeing..... that is what this blog is for.
